Richard George Custer, Sr.

Saturday, February 20th, 1932 – Wednesday, June 28th, 2023

Richard George Custer, Sr., 91, of Inwood, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born to the late Garland Holmes Custer and Tassie Miller Custer on February 20, 1932, he is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Esther Clark Custer.

Richard attended Bunker Hill and Musselman Schools. He served as a medic in the Korean Conflict 1952-1954. He was a lifelong member of the Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder during this time. He retired after twenty-three years of employment at the General Motors parts distribution plant in Martinsburg.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by a son, Richard, Jr. (Linda); daughter, Lisa Fauver (Darrell); grandchildren, Jennifer Howell (Aaron), Amy Blue (Jay), Eric Custer, Randy Fauver (Brandi), and Sara Favuer; great grandchildren, Abigail, James, Jeremiah, Taylor, Avery, Emma, and Chance; sister in-law, Alecia Custer, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son and one brother Edwin H. Custer.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Bunker Hill Cemetery with Pastor Tom Forbes and Michelle Elliott officiating.
